The mission of the Waxahachie Community Theatre is to provide premier family friendly theatrical activities and productions to educate, enrich, and entertain.
WCT has been actively producing and presenting theatrical and musical events in Ellis County, Texas since 1979, using local volunteer talent and working to advance education and interest in theatrical arts. The theatre filed Articles of Incorporation with the State of Texas on December 17, 1979, and declared itself to be a non-profit corporation with perpetual duration. The corporation was also declared to be a membership organization.
WCT mounts two major productions each season: one in May and one in October. Both are fully staged Broadway-style musicals accompanied by a live orchestra.
We round out the season with our showcase plays — one light-hearted comedy in February, one in July geared toward young actors and audiences, and a Christmas show in December.
Performances for the 2020 season will be at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium in Waxahachie's Getzendaner Park (May, October) and at University Church in Waxahachie (February, July, December).
WCT is an equal-opportunity theatre, and we welcome your interest in our endeavors.
Kasi Jones has been WCT Executive Director since 2010. The members of the 2020 Board of Directors are Angela Fontenot (Chair), Jennifer Bell (Vice Chair), Mindi Holloway (Secretary), Albert Love (Treasurer), Donn Cato, Gary Clark, and Billy Pritchett. Terri Roberts is the immediate past Chair.
WCT relies on individual subscribers and personal or business donations to enable us to maintain the quality of our productions. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
